Use the kitchen sink, so your child has plenty of space to lie down on a towel spread on the counter. You should also place a rolled towel beneath his neck. Then, wash and rinse his hair using the faucet or sprayer. This technique is beneficial for toddlers who are afraid to dunk their head or be doused with water.

Parents who have a teenager that is beginning the college selection process need to make sure that they do not try to influence their child to go to the same university that they did. Teenagers do not like being told what to do so they may choose the complete opposite out of spite.

Be sure to take time for yourself and away from your kids. You can let family and friends care for your children for a few hours to even a whole weekend. If parents don’t have time away from their kids, they often get more stressed, which increases the amount of tension in the house.

If your children fight and have trouble getting along, try to develop a set of rules for your family that are set out in positive language. For instance, instead of saying “no hitting” as a rule, you can reposition it as “always be gentle when touching”.

Make sure to pack comfort items for your child if you take them on a trip. While a vacation is meant to be a fun time of rest and relaxation for the family, young children may view it as a disruption to their routines. Keep a favorite blanket or toy around, this will help the adjustment to a new location.

Encourage your kids to participate in extra-curricular activities like sports and clubs. This will let your children learn social skills and develop their ability to make friends, both are important skills necessary throughout their lives. Keeping your children busy with after-school programs will also stop them from getting into trouble instead.
