It’s a good idea to keep regular mealtime and bedtime routines for your children when traveling. Young children, infants in particular, find traveling to be quite stressful and upsetting. It is common for preschoolers to resist transitioning. Abruptly switching between tasks can cause stress to toddlers and result in them experiencing a melt down.

Making it clear that you expect your children to use positive words and communication, while leading by example helps your children to deal with the inevitable sibling issues. For example, telling your children to touch each other gently is more positive than telling them they can’t hit.

If you are going to take your children on a long road trip, stop as often as you can to keep them from getting too cranky. You may be tempted to spend as little time in the car as possible, but a more relaxed trip is certain to be a more enjoyable one! Make your road trip a fun experience for your kids by stopping at a park or restaurant with play area and letting them play.
